Hallelujah

The verses chosen*, which include the verse which perfectly describes the song's composition as well as the absolute best verse which states "but all I've ever learned from love, was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you, and it's not a cry that you hear at night, it's not somebody who's seen the light, it's a cold and it's a broken hallelujah", Brown's vocals which build to the insistent and passionate repetition of "hallelujah", and every part of SafetySuit's always emotional compositions (the rise and fall of those strings is gorgeous, the frenzied guitar riff is perfection, and the drums run the song with confident precision) make this the best cover of "Hallelujah", hands down.

*Cohen wrote over eighty verses for this track during the writing process and, while his official recording for his studio album included the 'final' chosen verses, he performed all of the verses, at one time or another, during various live performances, mixing and matching the previously unreleased verses while keeping the last verse constant.

These Times

It is SafetySuit Saturday and, as I have gone through all of their previously released tracks and the band has been on an apparent social media hiatus since January, I'm going to bring back one of their great tracks that I haven't mentioned in a while.
The video is truly fantastic (put together with the help of their fans), the song's composition is just as moving as ever, but soft enough to give Brown's vocals the spotlight, and every lyric line from the opening "these times will try hard to define me, and I'll try to hold my head up high, but I've seen despair here from the inside, and it's got a one track mind" to the last repetition of "these times are hard, but they will pass" is perfect.
Check out "These Times" below and get the band's EP and two previously released albums from iTunes, as well as the single from their forthcoming third album, "On Your Side".

Never Stop

This may be the sweetest song SafetySuit has put out, if only because the lyrics are so adorable that they overshadow the softly building composition and the bands wedding version of this track is just as sweet as it places the emphasis on Brown's vocals and that soft piano melody.

Anywhere But Here

It's SafetySuit Saturday again and so much has happened for the site this week that I can't wait to see how it all plays out. While I sit here (impatiently) waiting, you can listen to the orchestral version of "Anywhere But Here" because it's gorgeous.
The strings sound just as hopeful and desperate as the lyrics themselves and the percussion picks up, perfectly, in time to propel a strong vocal chorus forward; it's just another perfect song from an amazing band.

Let Go

SafetySuit's acoustic tracks are fantastic and this one is almost better than the original track. Listen to the acoustic version below or follow the link to listen to the album version of "Let Go".

You Don't See Me

We're nearing the end of SafetySuit's music catalog which means that they either need to start putting out anticipated release dates for their forthcoming third studio album or I might switch it over to Sleeperstar Saturday, because ever since Sleeperstar announced that they were going to stay together and work on Lost Machines in 2014, I've been ridiculously excited to hear the gorgeous tracks that they're going to come out with (they're another band who, much like SafetySuit, puts the emphasis and emotion into their music as much as they do their lyrics).
Either way, for now, you can keep listening to SafetySuit and, for the third month in a row, if you do not already own their music, grab it from iTunes or Amazon and listen on repeat.

Find A Way

SafetySuit's music is amazing and they need to release another single from their forthcoming album because I am so ready to hear more of their gorgeous tracks.
Listen to "Find A Way" for their (always) sweet lyrics, compositions that carry as much emotion as the lyrics themselves (there really is nothing better), and superb vocals.

What If

It's SafetySuit Saturday again and, by now, you should have heard nearly every song of theirs (and loved nearly every song of theirs) and have added their albums and EP to your music library. Listen to "What If" because it's an awesome song that asks the question you're always thinking before you do something questionable (though it's a lot better to do it than to be thinking about the "what ifs") and the lyrics are, as usual, perfect with lines like "if this be the last time that we speak for awhile, don't lose hope and don't let go" and the sweet repetition of "cause you know that I'm always all for you".

On Your Side

I was sitting here all distracted by last night and couldn't think of any music to write about, then I realized that it's SafetySuit Saturday and my work is already half done for me which is fantastic. 'Kay, so, SafetySuit Saturday..
SafetySuit released the first single from their forthcoming third album on December 3rd and, if you still don't have it, you've got to get on that, because it's gorgeous. It picks up slowly in the beginning with a soft and gorgeous melody before swelling into something full of awesome techno beats that drops off just in time for Brown to sing wonderfully honest lyrics that always end with a sweet promise. Lines like "there's gonna be times when...you feel scared and the streets feel cold and the world is empty...there's gonna be times you feel you're losing, like you could be somebody, you just need the chance to prove it", "when the tide pulls you under I'll be the one who rescues you, and when they come and try to take over, I'm gonna knock off every demon that lands on your shoulder, I'll be there for you, everywhere you go", and the refrain which simply states "I am on your side, beginning to the end, you know" are all amazing.
The song's about six and a half minutes long, which seemed long to me at first (seeing as how it's a first single and should be grabbing your attention), but the song still manages to grab your attention every time it's about to drop off by maintaining a sort of movement-esque quality, turning the bridge into something separate from the rest of the piece but pulling it all together by circling back around to the original idea by the end. This band is completely adept at allowing their music to speak just as loudly as their lyrics (which is why they're amazing) and they have outdone themselves with this track, so get it on iTunes (actually buy it to support the band) and start playing it on repeat.

Get Around This

Remember when I said I was going to put up my interview with Melodime but then I had a final or work every day (or both) and I was thinking "fuck all of this" and didn't get much done because there was too much going on that could hold my interest and I just couldn't focus on finishing that task.. yeah. The good news is, the interview is all set and ready to go, but the (semi) bad news is that I am not going to put it up until Tuesday (it is set to go up automatically so that I can't flake out on that again).
Anyways, it's SafetySuit Saturday again and I have some time to kill before going to work so maybe I can put up a few posts for you guys and even take a short time to talk about how Beyoncé is more amazing than any of us will ever be (that being said, I do have the attention span of a three year old and someone is definitely cooking something in the kitchen).
The song's awesome because there's definitely a lot of violin in there, the lyrics are great and it's nearly impossible to not get caught up in that chorus, and the whole composition is, as always, perfect.

Things to Say

It's SafetySuit Saturday again except I still have the flu so I don't feel like writing anything.. Listen to the music; it's good.
If you did not get their new single, "On Your Side", from their upcoming third album when it was released this past Tuesday, do so now, because it's fantastic. I'll pull myself together enough to put that song up later today.

Someone Like You

It's SafetySuit Saturday, again, which means that you get to listen to awesomely addictive tracks from a great band.
Check out "Someone Like You" off their first album, Life Left to Go, get their albums and EP on iTunes and make sure to grab "On Your Side" (the first single from their third album) on December 3.

Stranger

It's sad with lyrics "say that I'm the only one and I'll never leave you", "I hope that you aren't thinking of us, like something you could never love, the last day the last way you looked at me, the last word the last thought you ever speak, I hope that you don't ever leave me, hopelessly thinkin'", but the bridge is amazing and the song is kind of great in its entirety.
The track comes from the band's These Times album; make sure to grab your copy on iTunes if you don't already have it because every song on the album is great (get all the albums from the band while you're there; it's two full lengths and one EP so it won't cost a lot and it will be worth it to have their music).

Anywhere But Here

It's SafetySuit Saturday again except that this week there's actually an update on their work. The release date for their "On Your Side" single is set for a December 3rd release now (though it was previously set for an October release so I'm not going to hang too much hope on that announcement).
The composition is, as always, awesome, the lyrics are great, and though it does veer a little towards too overly cheesy for me at times, it's still good.

The Moment

I seriously love every song this band has put out and I really wish I could say they were my favorite band.
Get their first two albums and their Hallelujah EP on iTunes before this next album is released and start falling for all of the band's music.

Life Left To Go

This band is amazing and their lyrics never fail to be perfect.
Still no updates on the single that was supposed to come out last month but whose release got pushed back, but just follow the band on Twitter or like them on Facebook to stay up to date with the latest news.

Never Stop

"You still get my heart racing" is one of the most adorable lyric lines of all time (the song, as a whole, is ridiculously sweet) and love songs are always better with an electric guitar.

Apology

As always, the lyrics and instrumentation are awesome, the band is underrated, and the new release date of the first single from the third album still has not been announced.
